Earlier this month OLENS sent me two of their best-selling lenses to review and compare—they are the Smoky Olive (formerly Russian Smoky Olive) and the Scandi Olive lenses. Coincidentally, these just happen to be two of my favorite lenses! I don't think I've ever done a ranking of my favorite contact lenses, but if I did, these two would easily be in the top 10 for sure!
While both are olive lenses, the color, opacity, and size are very different. Graphic diameter for these are 13.3mm and 11.9mm, respectively.
SMOKY OLIVE — OLENS Global, Shopee
The Smoky Olive lenses are naturally enlarging lenses that mixes a calm yet striking color with a dark outer ring and a barely-there pattern. Despite being called Olive, the color is more of a soft green. The whole idea behind the Smoky series design is that they're supposed to make you look /exotic/ and make you feel /empowered/ so they turned up the color opacity to make the eyes really pop. But to keep with the brand's ideal of making natural-looking lenses, they decided to keep the graphic design very minimal, to balance everything out. I particularly love the yellow-gold part in the center because it sort of bridges the color of my dark brown eyes with the colors of the lens itself. The result is a look that's somewhere between natural and striking. They're ok to wear for any occasion, but I personally love wearing these for events because it always, always catches people's attention.📌 The Smoky Olive, as well as the Gray and Brown, are known as BLACKPINK Lisa's contacts. SCANDI OLIVE — OLENS Global, Shopee
I feel like everyone who knows about OLENS should already be familiar with the Scandi series, as this is one of their most popular designs. With a small graphic diameter of 11.9, the design of the Scandi series mimics that of a real iris. It changes only the color of the center of your eye, which makes the color change very natural and realistic. The outside is basically just clear, so it uses your natural eye color as its "outer ring", blending in as naturally as possible. Color-wise, the Scandi Olive uses a muted olive green which is very pretty, but even prettier under natural light! When I found out that my personal color might actually be Soft Spring, I started reaching for these lenses a lot more. I think I've gone through at least 4-5 boxes of these already! If you have yellow-olive skin tones, especially if you have black or dark brown hair, I highly recommend giving these a try!📌 The Scandi lenses are known as BLACKPINK Jennie's contacts, but the one that used to model the Olive ones was Rosé. As with all of OLENS' 1-Day lenses, these are made of Puscon, a highly biocompatible material used for medical devices such as artificial hearts, which makes it the safest contact lens material to wear. Puscon is also hydrophilic; its molecular structure forms a hydration shell on the surface of the lens to keep the eyes moist and prevent dehydration. This shell also prevents protein and foreign substances from getting into the eye, and has strong UV-block function to ensure maximum comfort. My eyes tend to get dry easily, but I'm able to wear OLENS dailies for a long period of time without any problems. (Note: the ideal usage time is ~6 hours, but I've worn these for longer without any discomfort. But as always, YMMV!)
