current makeup menu #1

It's been a while since I last wrote about makeup, so I thought I'd try something new this time. I got the idea of doing a 'current makeup menu' post from sleep and water. I liked the idea of showing what products I've been using a lot vs doing monthly favorites posts, since I'm not really the type to have a new favorite every month. I like to stick to the same thing unless I get bored of it or if it stops working well. That's how it is for a lot of things, makeup included. That said, these are the products I've constantly been reaching for recently.

Just 10 items, all of which can fit in one pouch. A far cry from my "makeup essentials" from 2015! This doesn't include base makeup though, because I like to rotate between different foundations and cushions. What base I use depends on the weather, the occasion, etc. It's the same for primer, brow makeup, eyeliner, and mascara.

The one base item that I've been constantly using though, is the Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder*. I ran out of setting powder last month, and because I'm on a self-imposed shopping ban, I started using the Marshmallow Powder for that purpose. It works just as well, if not better. My only gripe is that the shade I have is a bit too light for me. Which is fine for now, I guess, since I only use it on my T-zone.

As for blush, these days I've been using the Canmake Powder Cheeks in PW25 Sugar Orange almost exclusively. I have other blushers but my hands always seem to reach for this one! It's a peachy orange color with a bit of shimmer. It goes well with most lip colors—reds, oranges, pinks—so it's super fool-proof.

For eye makeup, I've been using the same few items for a while now. These days I'm way too lazy to think about experimenting lol. I used to use Etude House Look At My Eyes Cafe in BE101 Honey Milk for my base color, but I recently got to try the Canmake Wink Glow Eyes* liquid shadows and liked them a lot, so I've been using 04 Lady Gold as my base instead. I then use Look At My Eyes Cafe in either BR403 Caramel Latte or BR405 Cafe Latte Milk as my main color, and then Look At My Eyes in BR402 Takeout Without Syrup on the inner and outer corners. Lastly, I add my favorite glitter shadow—Innisfree My Eyeshadow Glitter in 14 Deep Rose Gold—on top of everything. Then eyeliner. Then mascara, if I feel like it. Then I'm done!

On special occasions, I use Caramel Latte for contour (which is why I've already hit pan on it lol) and Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Puppy Love on my inner eye corners and my nose bridge.

If I'm just going out though, I apply Caramel Latte all over the lids using my fingers and that's it. I usually wear my glasses anyway, so I don't even wear eyeliner (unless I feel like it).

What lip color I wear for the day depends on either my mood or my outfit, but these are the ones I've been reaching for a lot recently. Their colors and textures are all different, but they're all warm-toned so they all go well with my blush and eye makeup. If I feel like wearing orange, I use the Canmake Lip Tint Jam in 02 Mango Jam*. The texture of this one is a bit slippy, like a lip oil. It's more hydrating than the usual water lip tints so I like it a lot. For a calmer look, I use Clio Rouge Heel Velvet in 08 Touch Moment* (reviewed here). If I feel like wearing something brighter, I wear Touch Moment, then apply my favorite Peripera Ink Velvet Tint in #5 Inktude Rose* in the center, and then blend. I used to wear Inktude Rose on its own but I realized that despite being a warm red color, it leaves a pink tint when it wears off. I didn't like that so I've only been blending it with other lip colors. The last one is Beauty Now & Next Matte Liquid Lipstick in Lovebite. I got this one from my aunt last Christmas. The color is super pretty and the formula itself is SUPER WATERPROOF. I have a hard time taking it off with just micellar water. Sadly it's a tad bit too dark for my liking, so I've only been using it as an accent color. If I feel like wearing a more chic look, I use Touch Moment as my main lip color, then apply Lovebite on the center.

A look I did a couple of months ago. I've more or less been using the same products since June!
