review : Princess Pinky Gemini Day Green Lens

Back with another contact lens review after so long! This time I'm reviewing the Princess Pinky Gemini Day Green Lens* from PinkyParadise. These are Monthly (30-Day Disposable) Lenses from their in-house brand. I've actually had this pair since last year, but I only got to open them recently. I wish I'd tried them sooner, because these lenses are SUPER pretty!

For these lenses, I chose the Green version because I'd been wanting to try wearing green lenses again for some time now. Since PinkyParadise kindly offered to send me a pair of their new Pinky Princess Gemini Day Lenses, I used this chance to give green lenses another try!

COLOR & DESIGN

The color of the lens itself is quite light. I was worried that the color might not show up on my dark brown eyes, which is usually the case for light-colored lenses. Surprisingly, the green color looked very bright on my eyes! It's much more noticeable in daylight or bright light though. Indoors it's a bit hard to tell that it's green, since it blends into my natural eye color.


Design-wise, there's not much going on other than the small speckles around the center. I love lenses with this type of speckle design, since these designs blend much better into the eyes versus designs with a solid inner circle for the pupil opening. What makes these lenses unique though, is that they don't have an outer circle or limbal ring. Limbal rings are quite common for circle lenses, so I was quite surprised when I realized that these lenses don't have them. The absence of the limbal ring is what makes the effect of these lenses look very subtle and natural-looking.

ENLARGEMENT

Diameter is 14.5mm, which for me is the best size for circle lenses. The enlarging effect is there, but it's very natural.

COMFORT

Princess Pinky Gemini Day Lenses have a water content of 42%. This means it contains more moisture than most contact lenses, which only have a water content of 38%. And as expected, these are super comfortable. No problems while wearing them, and I don't feel them in my eyes at all once I put them on. I was able to wear these lenses for half a day or sometimes longer without any problems.

LIFE SPAN

I already mentioned this, but in case you missed it, these are Monthly lenses. That means you can only use these for 30 days, then you have to throw them out. I completely missed this detail and only found out about it while editing photos for the review....I'd been wearing them from June-August, yikes. Good thing I only wore them probably thrice max past the 1-month life span, since I rarely go out. (I wear glasses most of the time.) But still, take good care of your eyes, friends!

If you're like me and only wear contacts maybe two or three times a month, it seems like a bit of a waste to buy Monthly lenses. I recommend getting either Daily (1-Day Disposable) or Yearly lenses instead.

OVERALL

These are great natural-looking lenses that I feel would fit a lot of people. Thinking of changing up your look with colored lenses, but a bit hesitant to look too different? I recommend giving these lenses a try. Especially if you have dark brown eyes like me! (Strangely, the Green version of these lenses actually look more natural-looking on me than the Brown version.) For those who prefer something even more eye-catching, I think the Princess Pinky Gemini Night Lenses would be more to your taste.
