The Clio Rouge Heel Velvet* lipsticks have been in my radar for months now, and they finally did! I got these during a Club Clio event last month, where the Clio Rouge Heel Velvet and the Clio Nudism Velvetwear Cushion were officially launched. Today I'll be swatching and trying on the five Rouge Heel Velvets that I have—01 Red to Go, 05 Pink Me Up, 07 Bird Kiss, 08 Touch Moment, and 10 Good Mauve.

Clio Rouge Heel Velvets are highly pigmented lipsticks with a velvety matte finish. They glide on effortlessly, and deliver vibrant high-impact color in one stroke. The lipsticks feature a beautiful stiletto design made to follow the curve of the lips for easier product application. Another unique feature of these lipsticks is a click-lock mechanism which ensures that they don't accidentally open in your bag. Just make sure that you click before turning to open the lipstick, or turn the lipstick well before putting the cap back on to close it, or else you'll end up ruining the bullet (like I did with one of mine here, as you can see lol).

Currently, there are 14 Clio Rouge Heel Velvet colors in total. The first 10 are part of the main line-up, while the other 4 are part of the limited edition Play Mymy Collection. Only colors 1-10 are available locally.

Official swatches by Clio vs my own swatches. I've already learned not to trust official swatches so much, since it was always a game of Expectations vs Reality when it came to Peripera's Ink Velvets. As you can see, some of the colors are way off. What I will say though, that these lipsticks are SUPER PIGMENTED.

01 Red To Go – Clio describes this as the "ultimate classic red". From the official photos, I was expecting it to be more warm-toned, but on my swatch and on my lips it appears more neutral. The color is a bit similar to Revlon's Fire and Ice. Just as described, it's a classic, wearable red that will suit most skin tones.

05 Pink Me Up – Described as "a vibrant pinkish peach". This one actually surprised me when I swatched it. So vibrant! And the color is just as pretty on the lips. I actually love this particular shade of pink because I find that it well with my warm skintone. It's a great spring/summer color. It's also great for when you need a quick pick-me-up. (Hence the name, I'm assuming!)

07 Bird Kiss – Described as "a pure coral pink". This color looked quite vivid on the official swatches, but in real life it appears more muted. It's a very pretty peachy coral that can be worn with any makeup look. It's a color that I know a lot of people would like.

08 Touch Moment – aka the peach lipstick of my dreams!! Described as "a sophisticated peach beige", this MLBB lipstick has become my new go-to for everyday. I like wearing this either on its own or with one of my Peripera Ink Velvets. SO GOOD. Definitely my favorite from the five Rouge Heel Velvet colors that I have.

10 Good Mauve – Clio describes this color as "urban brick rose". This is another color that I was surprised by. Rather than mauve, the color is more of a warm rosy brown. I usually stay away from darker lipsticks because they tend to make me look 5 years older, but this lipstick is very wearable. Another beautiful MLBB color!

Texture-wise, their claims of a soft velvet finish really holds true. I developed a dislike for matte lip products when I was introduced to matte lip lacquers, because they all felt like I had paint on my lips when I wore them. But with this, my opinions on matte lipsticks have changed considerably. The only downside is that it's not transfer-proof. It's still fairly long-lasting though, so it's not much of a problem.

My #1 go-to lip products are Peripera's Ink Velvet Tints, so naturally I was curious as to how the velvet lippies from Peripera's older sister, Clio, would fare. Super pigmented, beautiful velvet matte finish, and fairly long-lasting. I didn't think I'd end up liking them so much. Before this, I'd only ever used Clio's base and eye makeup. With this discovery, I've become more curious about their lip products now. I'm currently eyeing their Mad Matte Tints. They have a color called "Chai Tea Latte", which I'm hoping to try soon! ;)

The Rouge Heel Velvet is priced at ₱850 each, and is available in all Club Clio stores. Visit the Club Clio Facebook Page for more info on where to buy Clio products in the Philippines.
