Long time no outfit post, wow. The last one I did was way back in 2017! A lot of stuff happened since then. Recently I've slowly become more comfortable with taking photos of my outfits again, so you can probably expect more outfit posts from now on. Today I'll be showing you a couple of outfits I wore last week! This post is a collaboration with Rihoas, a Hong Kong-based fashion brand born from the founders' love of European cinema. Their clothes all have this elegant, retro, romantic feel which is inspired by charming female characters in movies.
First is this beautiful maxi dress with purple flowers—The Frill Trim Floral Midi Dress. I've always wanted a dress like this but I could never find one in my size. A lot of the local options were either freesize or plus size, and as a midsize girl that meant they were either too small or too large. Also for puff sleeves there's the danger of having sleeves that are too tight around the arms. That's why when I saw this dress in my size I just knew I had to have it! It is SO PRETTY. The flower print is quite unique (are they clematis?) and has a different appeal from the usual flowers I've seen on floral dresses. The fabric isn't super thin and everything was sewn well. The silhouette is perfect for my body type, too. I wish it had pockets!! I felt so pretty wearing this, like a princess! I got the dress in Medium, which fits perfectly, but the neckline is a little loose on me. I think I can fix the neckline with a garter then it would be perfect. (And of course I just had to wear my favorite Nami Trinkets pieces with this dress, hehe.)
I also got The Deep V Lace Puffy Blouse, a cute puff-sleeve blouse with lace details. I wanted something that I could wear often and on various occasions. I had a few options, but this stood out the most. A while back I got really hooked on the concept of personal colors, but back then I assumed I was a Soft Autumn type. After a while I started to question it, and then I found out about the Soft Spring type. Everything just clicked for me! Why am I bringing this up? It's because I specifically chose this blouse because it ticked all the boxes for Soft Spring.
And sure enough, when I wore it it made my face really glow 😍
A small issue is that the Large feels like a Medium to me. I got it after checking the size chart about 10 times. It fits me well, but it's just a wee bit snug around the waist. (When will my midsize girl problems end!!) Not a problem normally, but when I've had one too many xiaolongbaos...yeah. Also the neckline is DEEP. When they said "deep V" they were not kidding lol. I got it intending to wear different cute bralettes inside though, so it's not a problem for me, but I thought I should point it out. Still, it's a very cute blouse that I can wear for many occasions. My favorite way to wear it is with high-waist pants, but I think it would work as a bolero over dresses as well!
Those are my Rihoas picks! 🥰 Both are so nice that after trying them on I actually added a couple more pieces to my wishlist. It's been a while since I wore such clothes that made me feel so pretty. Maybe the kids do have a point with this whole fairycore aesthetic thing 🧚🏻 If you're planning on getting these or any of Rihoas' beautiful pieces for yourself, don't forget to use my code "Chainyan" to get 15% off when you shop 💜
