Here's another one of OLENS' best-sellers! I first saw these lenses three years ago, when a Korean Youtuber I follow used them in one of her GRWM videos. I think these were super popular in Korea at the time, because I kept seeing influencers using them after that. Since then I've always wanted to give these a try, so I was really happy when OLENS sent me these! They are the Russian Velvet Green* contact lenses 💚
As I mentioned earlier, these lenses used to be really popular a few years ago. Right now the trend for contact lenses is that the more natural-looking, the better, so a lot of people prefer subtler designs like the Spanish and Scandi lenses. That being said, the Russian Velvet still manages to stay in the bestseller list even after all this time.
Russian Velvet lenses come in four colors: Gray, Green, Brown, and Blue. The main feature of these lenses is the high pigmentation which makes your eyes pop. Out of all the OLENS lenses I've tried so far, this has the most dramatic effect! There's no edge line, and the pattern is dispersed like little dots, so the design blends well with your real eye color. They have a total diameter of 14.0mm and a graphic diameter of 12.7mm. The size was made to be almost the same as your real iris, so even with the bright color it'll look like your real eye color!
The OLENS Russian line actually comes in two more variants—Russian and Russian Smoky, which are all 1Day lenses. (I actually reviewed the Smoky lenses a while back.) The three look similar but have slightly different designs, so it's a bit confusing. Once you figure it out it's easy to tell them apart.
Russian Velvet Green — OLENS Global, Shopee
The Russian Velvet Green lenses are probably one of the prettiest green lenses I've tried! The base color is a light yellow green, with a yellow inner ring that has little red flecks in the middle. The color combination is quite unique! The effect is similar to the popular Solotica lenses, but a lot more natural. Aside from it not being a good match for my sensitive eyes, what I didn't like about those lenses was that the inner part of the design wasn't dispersed enough. The inner ring looked like a solid circle, so I always felt the blending was off. Though I like wearing dramatic lenses for certain occasions, I don't like when they look super fake. The Russian Velvet, when I wear it, it actually looks like I was born with them LOL. It's already impressive that the color shows up on me, especially since I have super dark brown eyes, but to actually make it look natural is so amazing to me.Like all of OLENS Monthly lenses, these are made from Polymacon/polyHEMA. 1Day lenses are made of Puscon. The difference between the two is that Puscon is a more hydrophilic, higher quality material, which explains the higher water content (48% vs 40%). But in my opinion, after trying both 1Day and Monthly lenses from OLENS, I feel like there's not much difference. My eyes tend to get dry very quickly, yet I can wear both types for at least 12 hours without any problems. These are Monthly lenses, they only come in packs of 2s. That's one pair of lenses for $24. The good news is that all OLENS Monthly lenses are Buy 1 Get 1 Free! Just choose two pairs of Monthly lenses (they don't have to be the same design!) and you'll only be charged for the higher priced item.
Compared to all the other OLENS lenses I've tried so far, these are the most dramatic, but they still manage to look quite natural. I personally recommend trying these at least once, in this particular color. The color is just so!! Heart eyes!! Gives such a dreamy look, which is just my style. If you have dark hair, this would look so pretty on you!
