life lately #7

Hey there, Internet friends! I'm back after a month-long break from blogging. A lot has happened in the time that I was gone, so I have a ton of stuff I want to write about. But first, here's a quick life update 💜

Watching
It's a bit late, but in September Aian and I finally watched Natsume Yuujinchou (Natsume's Book of Friends). We marathoned it. We watched all six seasons of the series, plus the OVAs. In less than a month. We were that hooked. I actually watched a few episodes when the series first came out in 2009. I don't know why I stopped though, since I was pretty big on youkai-themed stories even from before. I probably got busy and forgot about it. I can't believe I put off watching it for so long. Aian and I were looking for shows to watch and I randomly suggested it because I saw someone on Twitter share the trailer for the new movie. I'm so glad we finally got to watch this series. I love stories where the characters aren't just good-good or bad-bad, so seeing all the different characters all with varying moral compasses was great. Plus, no unnecessary romantic story involved. (Nothing against romantic themes in stories, I just don't like it when it's forced.) I think it's safe to say Natsume has everything I like in it. Really hoping they bring the new movie to Philippine cinemas.

And since it's already October, that means the new anime season is finally here! I was a bit disappointed with the previous season's anime (the only ones I liked were Asobi Asobase and Hero Academia), so I just wanted the new season to come quickly. And it's finally here! Aian and I have watched two new series from the Fall 2018 lineup. The favorite has got to be JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Vento Aureo, by far! We've been super stoked for this one ever since the announcement came out. The first episode was SO GOOD. I actually checked out the manga before, but only read up to the part where episode 1 stopped, so starting from the next episode I have no idea what's going to happen. Excited to see how the story goes from here!

Another interesting new series is Kaze ga Tsuyoku Futeiru (Run with the Wind). It's a sports anime based on a novel of the same title, written by Japanese novelist Miura Shion. It's being produced by TOHO Animation and Production I.G., the same people who worked on the Haikyuu!! anime. Even the character designer is the same! (And if you check the cast, even some of the seiyuu lol.) The first two episoded were super good, and the story seems interesting so far, so I'm looking forward to watching more of this series. Hopefully this will be enough to satiate me until the next season of Haikyuu!! arrives!

If you hang around Facebook and Twitter a lot, you might have already seen screencaps of this anime floating around! It's called Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san (Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san). The story revolves around Honda-san, who is a skeleton who works in a bookstore, and his day-to-day experiences while working. That's pretty much it LOL. I found it super funny, but maybe that's because this first episode was mostly about fujoshi......yeah. I saw some comments saying the depictions of the customers were a bit over the top, but I can't really say so because all I could think about was "oh, it me" the whole time I was watching, LOL. There was one particular scene that was ALL OVER my Facebook and Twitter feed the next morning, which made me laugh because it felt like all my mutuals who are fujos were exposed LOL. It was super funny.

Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudou-bu hasn't started airing yet, but it's on my to-watch list. When I was watching previews for the new season, I saw that this series was about Japanese archery, so it piqued my interest. The first ep doesn't come out until the 15th though, so I'll have to wait a bit more to watch it.

If you'd like to see all the other anime I watched / am watching in 2018, you can check out my AniList here.

Listening
I think it's safe to say that I'm still not over Produce48. There's still a few days until IZ*ONE officially debuts, so I've been listening to the concept evaluation songs a lot. I'd listen to the finale songs too, if only they remove the region-lock. (I think they're region-locked because I found the songs, but they're unplayable 😩)

Dreamcatcher is a fairly new discovery! I've heard of them, but I've never actually listened to their music. Their song Good Night played while I was listening to my Spotify Daily Mix, and as someone who loves BABYMETAL, I was instantly hooked. (Thanks, Spotify.) Aian likes their music too. Good Night is my favorite song of theirs, but their song What from their new album is great, too!

As for new releases, I've only been listening to two. First is Wow Thing by Seulgi, Chungha, SinB, and Soyeon, aka probably the most powerful collab this year. I'm still praying for at least one end-of-the-year performance. Second is Bbibbi by IU, which was released two days ago. SO GOOD. I've been listening to it on constant loop while working. The song itself is great, but the lyrics and the MV (!!!!) are suuuper good as well.

Playing
These days I've only been playing Onmyoji! I did open my JP Bandori account a few times, but only to check the new songs lol. I've become a bit competitive with Onmyoji now, so I've been playing it every day. Before I knew it, I was already at level 46! I used to just play it for the pretty characters, but now I've gotten quite strong. I'm not at a level that I'm satisfied with yet though, and I still get frustrated from time to time. I don't want to start joining Duels (PVP) until I think I can win, so I still have a long way to go.

The good news is that I finally got my husbando in the game!! Kusuriuri~~ I worked so hard to gather all the shards to summon him! It took me two months LOL. I'm so happy I finally have him!

Clicking on him makes him do one of two animations. He talks when he does them as well! Of all the characters that Sakurai Takahiro's voiced, Kusuriuri is my favorite ;____; ♥

After taking a short break from multi-step skincare, I've been looking to up my skincare game again. But I didn't want to go back to blindly using highly-raved items and praying for them to do their job. That was my biggest mistake, which ended up making my skin worse. This time I looked for simple yet effective routines which I could easily incorporate into my daily life. The first video that I found that fit my criteria was the one above, which is by Korean Youtuber Subin. Having cats was not part of my criteria, but seeing those in all of her videos made me subscribe instantly, lol. My night-time routine actually looks a lot like this now. It's a far cry from my 10,000-step routine from last year, but it works!

I also started doing this method of double cleansing by skincare professional Kim Gyul. Gyul is a skincare specialist that shares her industry know-how on her channel. I'd already planned on buying a muslin cloth for cleansing after watching Subin's video, but when I saw this video by Gyul where she uses cotton pads instead, I tried it right away. It's actually really effective! I do it with my Clean It Zero instead of a cleansing milk. After my second cleanse, I used a cotton pad to apply toner and there wasn't any makeup residue left at all! I recommend giving it a try at least once. There are a lot of other useful tips on Gyul's channel, so definitely check those out as well.

Looking forward to
Tomorrow's Komiket at Elements Centris in QC! I'll be boothing with Aian and Allysa this time too! It's a two-day event, but since it's way too far from where we live, we'll only be there for one day. I'll be bringing my kitty stickers there, so if you weren't able to buy them last Komiket, now's your chance!
