Have you ever experienced browsing an online shop for gifts, only to end up buying something for yourself instead, completely on the spur of the moment? I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, but that's exactly how the Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink in #06 Faded Beige Tulip came into my possession, haha! 🙈

I had already swatched this particular lip tint before, while I was checking out the Innisfree at SM MoA. So when I saw that Innisfree was having a sale on Shopee, I took that as a sign and bought it, lol.

The Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink is "a tint with a new lightweight formula that is as soft as cotton" hence the name. Containing camellia, mango seed, avocado, and cotton seed oils, this product is marketed as a matte lip tint that doesn't dry out the lips. I love velvet/mousse type tints so I was really looking forward to trying this!

It comes with a flexible flat doe foot applicator, which makes applying the product easy.

Currently, the Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink comes in 15 different colors. This color, #06 Faded Beige Tulip, is a warm peach beige—a beautiful MLBB color. It's actually very similar to something I already have, the Clio Rouge Heel Velvet in 08 Touch Moment (reviewed here). Both are soft autumn (가을뮤트) colors. The only difference is that Faded Beige Tulip leans more peachy, while Touch Moment leans more pink.

Pigmentation is really good. The texture of the tint is very creamy, similar to most velvet type tints. It is not smudge-proof or transfer-proof, so the staying power is just okay. It only leaves a faint tint when it fades, and it doesn't stain your lips unlike most Korean lip tints. And although my lips are usually dry, this product doesn't emphasize lip lines or dry patches. It's very lightweight. As expected, since the "cotton-like texture" is one of the main selling points of this tint.

This is also where my problem with it lies though. I had high hopes for this tint because so many people liked it. When I tried it for myself, I was a bit let down because something felt off. If I were to describe the feeling, it would be 'oily'. Similar to the feeling you get on your lips after eating oily food. And that's no surprise, given all of the nourishing oils in this product. It goes away after a while, but whenever my lips touch during the time that it hasn't dried down yet, it just feels weird to me. I think the trick is to apply only a little then blending it out with your fingers. But if you're looking for a true matte liquid lipstick, this isn't for you.

One more thing—the scent. It has a sweet mango-peach scent that's quite strong. It goes away after a while, but it can be a bit overpowering especially when I'm trying to build up the color on my lips. (I swatched this product beforehand, but I didn't bother to smell it. I should keep that in mind next time!)

It's too bad that I don't love it as much as I thought I would, because the color is just SO PRETTY! I feel like it could even be a dupe for 3CE's Velvet Lip Tint in Near and Dear (~₱974 on Sephora). Personally, I prefer my Rouge Heel Velvet, but I'm sure other people would appreciate this more! It's just not a good match for me.

UPDATE 10/2020: I've been using this a lot more as my go-to lip color. I even prefer this to the Clio Rouge Heel Velvet now! I guess I just learned to love it somehow? I liked the color so much that I kept reaching for it, and eventually I forgot all about my iffyness with the texture. I don't even notice the peach scent anymore! So strange. My favorite way to use this is by applying it all over my lips as my base color, smudging it out with my fingers, then adding a slightly brighter color in the middle. Like here!

UPDATE 04/2021: I noticed that a lot of people were finding my blog while looking for reviews of this tint, so I wanted to share another update! Despite my initial impression of this product, it slowly became one of my favorite lip products. Easily one of my favorites of 2020! Another thing, I realized that I kept comparing it to the Clio Rouge Heel Velvet in 08 Touch Moment. It turns out that they weren't as similar as I thought! Below is a photo that I took for a different post that I'm writing, where I swatched the two side by side. Left the photo unedited for color accuracy, but please note that my arm has a lot more yellow than my hands/face :)

Clio Rouge Heel Velvet in Touch Moment (top) vs Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink in Faded Beige Tulip (bottom). As you can see, Touch Moment is more of a peachy pink color, while Faded Beige Tulip is a peach color that has more orange-brown in it. Close, but not quite the same. I think the reason why I kept thinking they were similar is because they have the same calm vibe/feeling. I really like both though! :)

You can get the Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink for ₱549, available at Innisfree's SM MoA and SM Megamall branches. Some shades are usually sold out though, so I prefer buying online via Shopee. Here's a little tip from me: watch out for Innisfree sales! I bought this during one and copped this for only ₱339! :)
