February 2019

Compared to previous months, February was pretty chill. We had only one event to go to, which was February Komiket. Aside from that, the only other time we went out was to buy groceries. The thing about staying at home is that I get bored pretty easily, so I end up feeling envious whenever I see friends being out and about. But whenever I do get the chance to get out I become super stressed about Manila traffic, so I've learned to appreciate being a homebody a lot more. That said, staying at home most of the time means I won't always have new and interesting content to share. I hope you guys are okay with posts that are 90% cat photos!

On the first Saturday of February, I gave the kids their weekly Ciao Churu treat. Churu day is usually a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. Once a week we give the kids two sticks of Churu to share. I understand that this is such a small amount compared to other cats getting 1 stick each. We've had issues with Ame not wanting to eat in the past, because he thought Churu was better than their actual food. So we've limited it to only two sticks for seven of them. Seven, because only 7 out of our 8 kids like Churu. (Mong doesn't like Churu, but she likes pats and playtime, so I give her that whenever I can.)

The next day, Aian and I went out to buy groceries at Southmall, which also has a BLK513. It feels like ages since I last had it. My favorite BLK513 combo is valrhona granola + strawberries + nutella sauce!

Sometime in January I messaged Eri asking if she could make a TN-sized version of her Collectors' Blank Sticker Album. She gifted me the A5-sized version at Cosmania last year, and I loved it so much that I wanted one that fit inside my TN. I commissioned her to make one, and she delivered. She even gave me a bunch of stickers with it! So sweet. You can see the sticker album in action here.

If you liked Sosig's derpy photos from my January photodiary, you're in luck—I took A LOT of them in February as well! This is her default state, by the way. Sosig's front teeth are tiny, so her tongue slips out of her mouth when she's relaxed. I have a habit of touching her tongue to "put it back in" but it slips right back out after a while. That's why I always have a ton of derpy photos of her!

I made tuna mayo spread after a long time! The last time I made it was around 4 years ago? It's just tuna, mayo, and onions mixed together, so it's not super hard to make. The only reason I don't make it as often because draining the oil from the tuna is such a pain to do, especially when you have a Mimi screaming at you to give him some. I made a big batch this time, enough to fill the 750ml container of ice cream. Normally that would be two weeks' worth, but we ended up finishing it in less than a week. Chicken would be good for next time, but then Nora would be the one screaming at me.

On February 11th, the gremlins—Jake, Mori, Mong—celebrated their 3rd birthday. I used to think that it feels weird to have cats that are all around 1~5 years old, since it practically means I have a bunch of toddlers at home. But I learned just recently that when cats turn 3 years old, that means they're officially in their prime cat stage, which is the equivalent of a human's 20s~30s. So the gremlins are more or less the same age as I am, heh. Either way, they'll always be babies to me.

Earlier that month, Aian's brother decided to wash the cat bed that we bought for Mimi when he was still a kitten. Nora decided to use it as her bed when she gave birth to the gremlins, so it had blood all over it. We put it away without washing (gross I know), and it had been gathering dust ever since. That was more than three years ago LOL. We were told it took ages to clean. I can only imagine. Once it was clean though, the only ones who ended up using it were Mimi and Sosig. Mimi's gotten tired of it though, so it belongs to Sosig now. As you can see, she loves it so much.

On February 16th-17th, I attended February Komiket with Aian and Allysa. The three of us shared a booth together. I already talked about it in this entry, but this time we attended both days. Previously we used to only attend on Saturdays, then leave the booth to Allysa on Sunday, since we paid for the two days anyway. One day isn't enough to browse all the booths, especially since we're all busy manning our own, so Aian decided to attend both days. Traveling to and from Eton Centris would be a pain though, so we booked an Airbnb nearby. The unit we booked was ok. I didn't take any photos, because it wasn't pretty or anything. It did have air conditioning and a soft bed though, so we had a good night's sleep at least. And it was much better than having commute from Las PiƱas again. We'll probably go with this plan again for next Komiket, but I'll have to choose a nicer place next time.

A new and an old friend. As of now, we have around 7~8 strays in our little feeding program. I don't think the siamese kitty is a stray though. We're guessing she lives in one of the houses near the apartment building. She seems very used to people. We even got to pat her after just a few days!

On the 26th, Aian celebrated his 36th birthday. We had this cake 3 weeks before the actual day though. For Aian's birthday, we just stayed home, had pizza delivered, and watched movies.
