review : Flexwear Illusions II Sienna Lens

Flexwear Illusions II Sienna |
I mentioned previously that I bought a new pair of contact lenses to match my current glasses prescription. I've only worn them once so far, just to try them on, but somehow that ended up with me putting on a full face of makeup and taking a bunch of selfies, lol. Somehow I was able to take more than enough photos for a review, so I figured I should go ahead and make one. Just so the selfies don't go to waste, you know! ;)

I bought these lenses from Executive Optical. It was my first time buying lenses from EO, so I wasn't familiar with their lens offerings. It took me about 15 minutes to decide on a pair, since I was comparing all the designs and judging them from the designs that I've already tried. I really wanted something similar to my favorite GEO Big Grang Grang Brown, but I couldn't find anything. The SA's in EO Southmall were very helpful though. After much deliberation, I finally settled on Flexwear Illusions II Sienna, because the design reminded me of Lily 3Tone lenses.

The price for these lenses on EO's site is P790, but I only paid P590 when I bought these at their store. Maybe they were on sale..? I'm not entirely sure. The lenses came with a free bottle of lens solution and a lens case.

The color is a yellow-y shade of brown. These are supposedly 4-tone lenses, but I can only see 3 colors – yellow, hazel, and the black limbal ring. In the close-up photos it seems very yellow, but on my dark brown eyes the color appears to be more of a nice light brown, almost hazel. The design, as I mentioned earlier, reminds me of Lily 3Tone Lenses, which I like a lot.

At 14mm, these aren't enlarging at all. I learned from my previous experience that the diameter indicated on the package is usually the diameter of the lens as a whole, and it's possible that the graphic diameter may be even smaller. So for these, I'd say the graphic diameter is probably around 13.5~13.8mm. It still manages to cover my eye completely, but just barely. I noticed that in some of the photos I took, you can see a tiny part of my iris peeping out from the edge of the lens.

Very comfortable when worn. No discomfort even after I've worn them for almost 8+ hours outside.

To be honest, when I was buying these, I thought of them as just random replacement lenses that I'd use while I'm unable to purchase my usual pair, especially since I wasn't familiar with the brands EO had in store – "Allure", "Adore", "Emotions", etc. Turn out that all the lenses being sold there are actually manufactured by NEO Vision, and distributed by EO in the Philippines under the brand name "Flexwear". For those not familiar with NEO Vision, they are a contact lens company based in Korea. They're known for producing some of the most comfortable lenses around, and although I've never tried their lenses before, the lenses that I got now are proof of that. My eyes get irritated quite easily, but I didn't have any problems with this particular lens.

That said, the main downside for me is the 14mm diameter. If you're like me and can't live without enlarging lenses, this may be a problem. But if you're looking for natural-looking lenses for daily use, I recommend checking this and all other Flexwear lenses out. Flexwear is only available in the Philippines, but international readers can just check out NEO Vision, because the lenses are pretty much the same, just with different names. (I'm assuming the NEO Vision version of Flexwear Illusions II Sienna would be NEO Glamour Brown / Hazel / Honey. I'm not 100% sure of the color, but the design is very close!)

If you're in the Philippines, you can get these lenses online at Executive Optical for P790, but I recommend checking your local EO for any on-going promos ;) For everyone else, NEO Vision is available on EyeCandys and HoneyColor.
