Photos of my beautiful friend Mara, from a spontaneous shoot we did in February 2012. More than 12 years ago! 2012 might have been my true creative peak, haha.
It's been so long that I've already forgotten which obscure song's lyrics I used for this set at the time. Something with the word 'infinity' or 'eternity' in it, probably. (Update: turns out the correct answer was "heartlines," from one of my fave songs by Florence and the Machine.) I tried digging up my old portfolio sites because I was curious, but it seems like I might have done too good of a job with cleaning up my old stuff—my old deviantArt, Flickr, Behance, and even Cargo Collective are all gone without a trace. A little sad that other than the memories of that hot, humid day in UPD, all I have left are these files that are too low-res to even be printed on anything bigger than postcards. But as the kids say—it do be like that sometime 😮💨
The reason why I thought of posting these is because I recently brought out Ryuusei, my old Canon 5D, and after hearing the shutter sound again I realized how much I missed taking photos, which led to me looking through my old shoots from way back. Years and years of work...back then I was so enthusiastic about photography! Don't get me wrong, I still love photography—I don't think I'll ever fall out of love with it—but now days I prefer to focus on capturing fleeting everyday moments vs planning and executing the makeup, set design, etc. for photoshoots. While I do miss it, I don't have the time or energy for it now. Maybe in the future, if the friends I used to collab with are still up for it. For now, I'm perfectly content with taking snapshots of my boring little life ♡
