It's October, which only means one thing—Spooky Season is here! Have any plans for Halloween yet? Since October is my birth month, I've always loved Halloween even though we don't celebrate it in the Philippines. As a child I was really into The Nightmare Before Christmas. I probably watched it more than 10 times! I guess it just kind of stuck with me, heh. For this year's Halloween I'll be staying at home (surprise), but of course that's not going to stop me from dressing up! Thankfully, OLENS sent me their new Vampire* lenses to try out 🖤

Just in time for Halloween, OLENS released a limited collection called Vampire lenses. Of course these aren't limited to vampire looks only—these lenses are versatile enough that you can use them for any costume you want to wear, or any specific character with red or silver eyes that you'd like to cosplay!

OLENS Vampire lenses come in two colors: Red and Silver. They are 3Con lenses, so each lens has 3 colors: the base color, a yellow inner ring, and a black edge line. Between the two, the yellow inner ring is a lot more subtle in the red colorway that you can barely see it. The black edge line is a nice addition because it makes the design look more 3D. These have a graphic diameter of 13.5mm, which is quite enlarging! As these are Halloween/costume lenses, they were made to be bigger than usual to give your eyes a more dramatic effect.

VAMPIRE RED
Super vivid red lenses! Not much to say about these other than that the red color is so nice. The moment I got these I immediately thought of doing maybe a youkai/oni/kitsune look with them! Though I do wish the yellow inner ring would be more visible, and that the design in the middle would be either less opaque or more dispersed, so the lens blends a little more naturally with the eye. Even for costume lenses I still want them to blend naturally with my dark eye color, but it's understandable since they were going for a more extreme/dramatic look.

VAMPIRE SILVER
Silver lenses that look almost white, with a visible yellow inner ring. I thought this would look way over the top but surprisingly the dark outer ring really makes a big difference. Again, I wish the middle part was a lot more dispersed. I'm not a fan of seeing the dark brown of my eyes peeking through the middle like that. But the colors on this one are really pretty. It reminds me of the lenses some visual kei band members like to wear! (I suddenly thought of Kamijo...and then it made me realize, "ah, Kamijo is a vampire, isn't he" lolol)

An attempt at doing something more ~*creative*~ for Halloween lol. Wearing both the Vampire Red on my left eye and the Vampire Silver on my right! I've always wanted to try the odd eye look hehe~

Just like all OLENS Monthly lenses, Vampire lenses are made from Polymacon/polyHEMA material. The water content is 40%, so they're comfortable to wear. The issue with these types of lenses is that the because the design/colors are so opaque, sometimes you can feel the lens on your eye and it's quite uncomfortable. I can wear these just fine without any problems. And because these are Monthlies, they only come in packs of 2s (1 pair), but all OLENS Monthly lenses are Buy 1 Get 1 Free so you get both colors of the Vampire lenses for just $24!
