OLENS Eyelighter Glowy Contact Lens Review | chainyan.co
I've been on a roll with contact lens reviews these days! If you're wondering why, it's because I only ever get to play with makeup when I shoot for lens reviews, so I've been doing a lot of them recently 😅 Today I'll be introducing yet another new design from OLENS, the Eyelighter Glowy* lenses ✨

Released just last month, the Eyelighter Glowy is the newest series of contact lens produced by OLENS. The word Eyelighter in the name seems to be a portmanteau of the words 'eye' and 'highlighter', which I think is so cute! Even the tagline, "Light up your eyes!", is cute! Kind of gives you mahou shoujo vibes, don't you think? 💖

Eyelighter Glowy lenses come in three colors: Black, Brown, and Ash Gray. The Eyelighter Glowy has a graphic diameter of 13.1mm, which is the perfect size for me. Not too enlarging but also not too small that it doesn't cover my natural eye color completely. These are three-tone lenses, but it doesn't have the usual blending of outer-middle-inner colors. There's a base color, a highlight color, and a clear outer ring. The colors of the Eyelighter Glowy lenses are blended in a way that simulates the effect of light hitting the eyes.

The reason why these lenses give me major mahou shoujo vibes is because the shiny highlights made me think of how eyes are usually drawn in anime, especially in 80's~90's shoujo anime. So cute!

EYELIGHTER GLOWY BLACK — OLENS Global, Shopee
Soft black lenses with dark gold highlights and a black outer ring. More than black, I think it's more accurate to say that the base color is more of a dark gray. When I read "black" on the box I was a bit scared because I was reminded of the SUPER BLACK dolly lenses that used to be popular years ago. Thankfully these aren't like that! These are much more natural-looking, and even the black outer ring isn't an intense black either. Even so, the dolly effect is still there. These are great if you like pure/feminine makeup looks. Like IZ*ONE's Minju and Hyewon!

EYELIGHTER GLOWY BROWN — OLENS Global, Shopee
Brown lenses with milk brown highlights and a dark brown outer ring. The brown highlights in this one are actually quite bright. It really does look like you have sunlight hitting your eyes! Very pretty. I prefer these over the black ones, just because the black feels a bit more doll-like. The brown ones are actually natural-looking enough to use as everyday lenses (not saying you can't use the black ones as daily lenses; just that personally I would reserve them for more special occasions). I think these would look good even with very minimal makeup.

EYELIGHTER GLOWY ASH GRAY — OLENS Global, Shopee
Ash gray lenses with olive highlights and a charcoal gray outer ring. This is probably the most unique out of the three colors. The base color is supposedly ash gray but when the light hits it the color looks more blue. The olive is quite subtle and isn't noticeable on the close-up photo but it's there. Sometimes the olive looks kind of blue as well. The colors all blend really well together and the result is such a dreamy color! I think this would look great on people with lighter eye colors, but even with my dark brown eyes the color still comes out nicely!

Unlike OLENS' 1Day lenses which are made from Puscon, Eyelighter Glowy lenses are made from Polymacon/polyHEMA. All OLENS Monthly lenses are made from this material. The difference between the two is that Puscon is a more hydrophilic, higher quality material, which explains the higher water content (48% vs 40%). But in my opinion, after trying both 1Day and Monthly lenses from OLENS, I feel like there's not much difference. My eyes tend to get dry very quickly, but I can wear both types for at least 12 hours without any problems.

Because Eyelighter Glowy lenses are Monthly lenses, they only come in packs of 2s (1 pair). All OLENS Monthly lenses are Buy 1 Get 1 Free though, so you get 2 months' worth of lenses for just $29!

And that's it! What do you think? After taking pictures I realized that they really do give you anime eyes! I like it a lot hehe. The only issue I had with these is that because lenses tend to move around in your eye, the design tends to move around. And so even if you place the highlight part in one area for both eyes, eventually it ends up on different areas as the day goes on. It's a very minor issue and doesn't take away from the appeal of the overall design, but I thought I'd just put it out there since it's something I noticed while looking at the pictures. Still, these lenses are SUPER CUTE, so I'm hoping they 1) make 1Day versions and 2) come out with more colors in the future!

UPDATE: OLENS heard my wish lol! They released 1Day versions of the Glowy Black and Brown (OLENS Global, Shopee) 💕
