Hey everyone, I'm back! The JLPT was last Sunday, and so I'm finally ending my hiatus. Chai is a free elf!! I still can't believe I spent a whole month (!!!!) studying though. To be honest, by the first week of July, I was already wishing for the exam day to come sooner. I got so sick of studying that I just wanted to get everything over and done with. That's what happens when you try to stuff 8 months' worth of lessons into your brain in ~1 month, I guess ;_____; I'm an idiot, I know. I think I did well on the exam though! よくできたと思いますけど....._(:3 」∠)_
Anyway, now that the exam's over, I'm taking a break from studying for about a month. Then I'll go back to studying, but at a much slower pace this time. I still want to take the N3 exam, after all! In the meantime, I'm going to be working on all the backlog that I couldn't touch while on hiatus. Here's my recap of May. Enjoy!
My sleeping pattern was more or less "normal" (aka not nocturnal) during the first half of May, so I was able to take photos whenever I liked. This was for my Innisfree Vivid Cotton Ink review, which you can read here.
Back in April I placed an order for Colourpop's Together Furever Super Shock Shadow Foursome, and they finally arrived after more than a month of waiting. (I used a proxy service to get them.) These shadows are SO PRETTY. I already posted about them on Instagram, but I'll try to do a full review sometime soon.
Went out with my mom's side of the family for Mother's Day. We went to this place in Manila called Harbor View. The food was okay, but a bit expensive for the quality. That's because you're paying for the view, I guess. I was feeling a little unwell earlier that day, and by the time I went home I was already running a fever. The next day I was bedridden and couldn't even stand up, which sucked, because it was the Senatorial Elections. I spent the rest of the day sleeping (and feeling angry at myself for getting sick at such an important time).
There wasn't much I could do while I was sick, so whenever I got bored I worked on my journal. I think I wrote about 2 months' worth of backlog in one sitting, haha. This is my unfinished entry about the MNL48 handshake event last April. I haven't had the time to print photos yet, so it's still incomplete. I got Gabb's photo from a card that I got from a fellow Unigabb at the event, heh. Used a bunch of my favorite tiny stickers from Chichi, as usual.
On May 19th, the power at our apartment building suddenly went out. Apparently something happened with one of the power lines. Only a handful of houses in our street was affected, ours included. That was around 10PM, so we couldn't go anywhere to pass the time or anything. We spent some time at a nearby McDonald's that was open 24/7, but after finishing two servings of large fries and some iced coffees, we went back home. Upon arriving though, we found out that MERALCO wouldn't be fixing the line until the next day. So guess who had to sleep while fanning herself? Yep, me. In 32°C weather! I was furious, but also very sleepy, so there was nothing I could do. I fanned myself until I could sleep for a few minutes, then fanned myself again when I woke up. It went on like this until MERALCO finally came to fix everything. 15 hours without electricity ;;______;;
This is Jake after the electricity finally came back on. He was super cranky because he couldn't sleep on the bed with my blanket (it was way too hot). He only got to sleep when we turned the AC back on. So spoiled....
These two celebrated their birthdays in May! Mimi on the 17th, Ame on the 24th. They're 5 and 4 years old, respectively. We adopted Mimi in May 2014, and Ame the year after that. (Nora came in between, heh.)
I don't know what took me so long to do this, but I finally set up Volume 2 of my journal for 2019. I finished my first TN insert for 2019 (Volume 1) in April, so I set up a new one of May onwards. This time I used the default Traveler's Company Blank TN Reill, then mixed in some pages from the Quest Journal Grid Refill. It's working out for me so far. For the cover I used a lace paper doily and various stickers I got from Chichi (I love her stuff ok), then added a few other things. I wrote 1 Corinthians 16:14 on the cover as well ♥
On the last week of May, Aian bought three new carriers for the kids. We used to have only one carrier even though there are eight of them. We needed some way of keeping them isolated for when we called pest control (we have a termite problem currently), so Aian decided to buy the carriers. We figured it was about time too, since earthquakes have been happening more often recently. But since our apartment is a studio-type, we don't have much room, so Aian thought it was a good idea to stack the three carriers on top of each other (the other one's stored away on top of a bookshelf). So now it's a makeshift cat tree, haha.
Photos of and with the kids. Everyone was cute in May as well ♥
That's it for May! Aian was extra busy with work in May, so we couldn't go out much. I think we only went out a couple of times, and both those times we only went to eat outand get milk tea. We didn't leave BFRV at all. Whenever we got a bit of free time, we just stayed at home and watched One Piece. That's why I was thinking of merging my May and June photodiaries, but I ended up taking a ton of photos (!!) in June, so I decided to post them separately. The June recap's coming up soon, so please watch out for it :)
