review + swatches : Canmake Lip & Cheek Gel

Hey everyone, long time no beauty post! :) I've had this one sitting in my drafts for a while, and I finally found the time to sit down and write the review today. Today I'll be reviewing two of Canmake's Lip & Cheek Gels*, which have been a staple in my makeup pouch ever since I got them! 💖

CANMAKE LIP & CHEEK GEL

The Canmake Lip & Cheek Gel is a lip and cheek gel offering a burst of color. Features a meltingly smooth texture, superb staying power, and various beautifying and moisturizing agents. Coordinate your makeup perfectly with this 2-in-1 product! ♥

PACKAGING

As with all of Canmake's products, the packaging is suuuper cute! It's quite small, so it fits in the smallest of pouches. My favorite part is the small mirror, which makes it easy for me to touch up my blush or lip makeup at anywhere and anytime. (Although from experience, I've never actually had to touch up my blush, heheh.)

COLOR & TEXTURE

As of this writing, there are currently 7 colors of the Lip & Cheek Gel in total. The first one I have is 01 Strawberry Mousse, which is described as "a red that creates an adorably baby-cute look". It seems like a neutral red from the pan, but against my skin, it's more warm-toned. The second one is 02 Apple Mango Parfait, which is "an orange that creates a sense of freshness". It's a vivid red-orange color. Both are translucent and shimmer-free, and very pigmented. I have light-medium skin with warm undertones, and both of these colors show up well on me.

These are gel-creams, so they're smoother and slippier in texture than Canmake's Cream Cheek line. That means they're easier to blend out, but also that they're slightly more difficult to apply if you're heavy-handed like I am. Because the Lip & Cheek Gels spread out more easily, there's a tendency to apply too much. They're very pigmented, so a little goes a long way. (My tip for application: apply two-three dots in the middle of wherever you apply your blush, then carefully spread outwards from that point. Add one more dot in the middle, and then repeat.)

PERFORMANCE

I have oily skin so my makeup always starts breaking down after the 5-6 hour mark, even with setting powder. By the end of the day, the blush is still there, although not as visible as upon application. Even so, it's still pretty impressive. Plus, reapplication isn't a problem—the product itself is quite small, so I can carry it with me anywhere.

As a lip product though, the Lip & Cheek Gel is not as long-lasting. It performs more like a tinted lip balm rather than a lip tint, so you'll have to reapply after eating and drinking. It's great for daily use, but I personally prefer longer-lasting lip colors, so I use this product exclusively on the cheeks.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Super pigmented, long-lasting, not at all sticky. A little product goes a long way, so they last you a long time. If you loved Canmake's Cream Cheek line, then you'll love the Lip & Cheek Gel as well. Honestly, they're more or less the same, but I prefer these to the original Cream Cheeks. Only because I prefer the slippy texture of the Lip & Cheek Gels! It all depends on your personal preference :)
