review : Canmake Whip Mousse Lip + Candy Wrap Lip

CANMAKE Whip Mousse Lip + Candy Wrap Lip | chainyan.co
A while back I did a review of some Canmake products c/o Pretty-fab.com. One of the products I introduced was the Canmake Whip Mousse Lip*. I said I'd talk more about the product in detail in a separate entry, the reason being I wanted to do a comparison with another lip product, the Canmake Candy Wrap Lip*. I'll be talking about these two products today. (*˘︶˘*)

Gold vs silver. While their packaging looks almost identical, the Whip Mousse comes with a gold cap while the Candy Wrap comes with a silver one.

Both use the same flat wand type applicator that I really like. Easy to work with and gets just enough product every time.

Swatches! Whip Mousse Lip in 01 Raspberry Red (left) vs Candy Wrap Lip in 04 Lady Strawberry (right). I don't know if it's just because of my yellow undertone, but both look orange-y in the swatches and on my lips. Especially Whip Mousse, even though it appears more pink in the tube.

Whip Mousse Lip, on my lips. I really like red-but-not-in-your-face-red color and the velvet matte finish.

To use this as a cheek tint, sweep onto the cheeks, like so! Make sure you start with a little (3 to 4 short strokes) and then build the color, since you can always add more afterwards. Then, use your fingertips to blend the color out in a circular patting motion. Remember to pat and not swipe! Pat pat pat until you get a nice, natural flush ♥

Whip Mousse Lip, on lips and cheeks. IMO, Raspberry Red is perfect for that sweet & cute LARME-kei look! ♥

Candy Wrap Lip, with the Whip Mousse Lip underneath. It has a moisturizing effect since it's formulated with hyaluronic acid, honey extract and shea butter.

Full look. Lady Strawberry is a soft red color, so if you want a deeper red, a red lip tint as the base color would work well.

The Whip Mousse Lip is one of those products that I wouldn't have gone out and bought on my own accord, but ended up liking a lot after trying it once. The reason why I overlooked it is because I'm not a fan of matte lip products. Matte lips are a lot of work, especially for someone like me who doesn't like touching up every few minutes. That's why even though I have a bunch of matte lipsticks lying around, I've only ever used them once or twice. The Whip Mousse Lip goes on nicely, and with the wand applicator I don't make a mess while applying (like I do with most lipsticks). It lasts quite a while, but I still have to touch up after a few hours, or after I eat or drink. And as I mentioned previously, my issue with it is that it tends to set into fine lines after application. So what I do is apply a little bit and then blend it out with my finger. Exfoliating your lips beforehand + wearing lip balm underneath also makes a huge difference. This color (Raspberry Red) is so cute and natural on the cheeks, too. I like this so much that I might pick it up in 02 Honey Orange in the future as well!

As for the Candy Wrap Lip, I got it as a gift from Canmake a looong time ago (as you can probably tell from the first photo, I've used up quite a bit of it already), when they were still in the process of getting ready to set up local stores. Until now it's still the one lip gloss that I own. I've tried a bunch of other glosses, but I always ended up giving them away since I could never get over the sticky feeling that glosses have. Long hair + wind + sticky lip gloss = disaster. I've never had that problem with the Candy Wrap Lip, which is why it's the only gloss that I like. One more thing that I like about it is that it makes my lips look fuller. I use it after my usual lip tint + lip balm routine and it makes my lips look so pretty. I actually used this on Leny for one of our previous shoots and a lot of people kept commenting about how pretty her lips looked, haha. And at just P390, it's very affordable. Will definitely repurchase once I finish this tube!

The Whip Mousse Lip and the Candy Wrap Lip are both available on the Canmake Philippines online shop. These particular colors might not be available anymore though, but the other colors are just as pretty!
