Terribly late, as usual, but here's my August 2019 photodiary. It's so strange. These were from last year, which feels like an eternity ago, but the scenes are still all so vivid in my head.
August 10th, Saturday. Started the month (super late start, but still) with my favorite chopsuey from Vibang's. Before COVID happened we used to walk to Vibang's for lunch whenever we felt like it. Now I don't even remember the last time we ate there. I miss their chopsuey and sinigang sa miso :(
August 16th, Friday. Went to BGC with Aian for his appointment with his hairstylist at their fancy salon. Whenever we come to this place I'm always so mesmerized by the discoball hanging in the waiting area. I was so surprised when I saw that there was actually a second one inside their restroom!
After Aian got his hair cut we went to Gringo's for late lunch. After that we met a cute NPC kitty outside this one shop's door. We passed by the shop several times but the kitty stayed there the whole time! Cute.
That same day I was supposed to get my hair cut at the salon next to Aian's, but the staff seemed to be busy so I ended up waiting for about 30 minutes without being attended to. Then I remembered Nora Salon had a Makati branch, so I thought I'd go there instead. I always get a little nervous whenever I have my hair cut by someone other than my usual stylist, but the result turned out better than I expected!
August 26th, Monday. We did a shoot for my baby half-brother's 1st birthday in October. The shoot was done at Studio Namu in QC. I'm pretty out of the loop with photography-related things so I was surprised to know there was even such a place. Some of the sets were really pretty so I took a lot of photos.
For some reason I ended up posing for solo shots because the photographer kept asking :| Which I thought was a creep move? Because we were there for a different purpose?? But I guess everyone thought it would be a good chance to get new photos of our own. Andun na rin lang kami. So I'm like......ok lol why not let's just get this over with. Only problem was that I didn't know how to pose in front of the camera anymore. Also I'm probably only ever comfortable with being in front of the camera when it's Aian or someone else that I'm close to behind it. (These photos were taken by my brother, btw.)
After the shoot we went to Hole in the Wall in Makati for dinner. I'd only ever seen the place in photos before. The aesthetic of the whole place was really cute. Also got to try Hanamaruken's Signature Happiness Ramen! The '幸せ来訪' written on the nori made me smile when I saw it.
August 27th, Tuesday. The test results for the July 2019 JLPT came out. I remember waking up a few minutes before the results went online and constantly refreshing to check. When it was finally time I was shaking when I entered my login info, and then when I finally saw my results I just started crying out of frustration, lol. I missed the passing score by 1 point. 1 POINT! If it were 3 or 5 points I still would have been disappointed, but not to the point of crying. That 1 point could have been anything on the test, like that one question about how to read 暗い that I mistakenly answered せまい (semai; narrow) instead of くらい (kurai; dark). I was so frustrated. I was SO CLOSE. Oh well.
I remember being in a sour mood the whole day because of my results. Or at least up until evening, when X1 had their debut showcase. I watched the livestream with my friends. That was when the Noisy GC was born, out of our need to scream at each other about the boys at the time. That night was so fun. Thinking back on it now, it's a little sad. If you keep up with K-pop, you probably already know what happened to the group. But it's cool. The Noisy GC is still very much alive and we still follow all the members' activities post-disbandment. We all really miss X1 though 💔
August 31, Saturday. Went to show my support for Seishun Kakumei at Best of Anime! I remember arriving just in time for their performance, then going out the event venue for a bit to get waffles and coffee, and then going back when the winners for the dance contest were announced. (They won!) It's always fun hanging out with everyone at cons. Now that I think about it, right around this time of year would have been con season. But because I'm living in a country that's currently failing miserably at handling a pandemic..........you know how it is. Sigh. I miss everyone :(

Hope everyone's holding up okay during this trying time. It's taken quite a toll on me personally, these 6 months of quarantine, but I'm trying to keep my head up. I've been living vicariously through my past self, looking at all my old photos and remembering all the fun times before the pandemic happened. I'll come back with more photos soon. Hopefully it doesn't take me 2-3 months, lol. Stay safe, friends ♡
