streetsnaps : Ashley Dy

Ashley wears: American Apparel shirt, from Hong Kong skirt, shoes, belt, bag.

Say hello to a blogger whose style I really admire, Ashley Dy of Candy Kawaii Lover. Ashley is a Filipina fashion blogger based in Japan. I found out about her through a mini-feature on MEG Magazine where my then-blog on Tumblr was featured as well. I fell in love with her style and her photos, and I've been following her blog ever since. We were supposed to meet sometime last year, but because of certain circumstances, we weren't able to. I finally met her for the first time during Bloggers United 4, but because Ashley was super busy with her booth that day, we were only able to talk for a short while. So we agreed to meet after Christmas, since she was leaving shortly after the New Year. We met on a Friday, I think, in the afternoon, at Bonifacio High Street. Before then, we've only ever spoken to each other on the Internet, commenting on each other's blogs and tweeting or messaging each other on Twitter. It was so strange though! When we met for the first time, I wasn't at all nervous or uncomfortable. It felt like we've known each other forever. What's more, I found out that she was actually good friends with my cousin and his best friend. What a small world, really.

I enjoyed my short time with Ashley, even though all we did was talk. I had so much fun, we talked until the sun went down! She was so sweet and nice. I also really liked looking at her face. I think, as a photographer, you immediately focus on physical features that you like when talking to someone. I couldn't stop looking at her face. It was so tiny and doll-like! I told Ashley she should try modelling for Nylon Japan. Haha! I hope the next time Ashley comes to visit, we'll be able to have more shoots. And coffee dates, too! ♥

** The next post will be about my short but sweet afternoon with Ashley. For now, I hope you like my photos of her! Also, if you're a blogger / artist living in (or visiting) Manila, feel free to leave your blog links in the comments below! I'd love to meet new and unique individuals to take photos of and feature on my blog.
