review : Gothic Angel Eclipse Violet Lens

July 28, 2016

It's been a while since I did a contact lens review, hasn't it? The last one was more than a year ago, I believe! This might be surprising to some long-time readers of my blog—the me of a few years ago would have a new contact lens review almost every other month. The reason why I haven't been reviewing lenses anymore.. well, let's just say my eyes have become more sensitive over time, so these days I've become more careful with trying new lenses. Or at least, I make sure to only have two to three lenses open – one natural pair for normal days, and one or two for days I feel like wearing something cute. A big difference from years ago, when I had at least five (!!) lenses opened at a time.

Even though these days I try to minimize the use of contact lenses (I stick to wearing my glasses if I'm staying at home or just going out for a few errands), I can't completely let go of them as they've already become an important part of my whole look. From time to time, I still look around for new and interesting designs to try. Just recently, I received a new pair to review from LensFlavorsGothic Angel Eclipse Violet Lenses* ♥

The lenses up close. The color is quite vivid, but not opaque. It has almost no pattern, except for the thin black limbal ring and black specks in the middle.

The lenses when worn, in natural light. I LOVE how this looks on me. Because I have dark Asian eyes, what happened is that the violet color looks like a halo around my eye. And although you can barely see the specks in the middle, my eye color blended more naturally with the contact lens itself, as compared to lenses with a more defined pupil opening. (Am I making any sense?) This lens design reminds me of my favorite Nudy series, but much better! (*ꈍ꒳ꈍ*)

I thought their name "LensFlavors" was quite cute, so I thought I'd do something appropriate! What flavor comes to mind when I think of purple? I thought grape, but I don't have purple lipstick. Maybe blueberries then, I thought. So for this review, I tried doing a berry-themed makeup look!

Indirect sunlight vs indoor lighting. The color still appears very vivid even under fluorescent lights (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

I love this design - these are certainly not the most unique-looking lenses, but they make my eyes look so pretty! The advantage of the simple design is that it doesn't look over the top paired with heavy eye makeup. Plus, the color is so vivid. I highly recommend these for cosplay as well.

Diameter is 14.5mm, so these are super enlarging. If you're not comfortable having huge anime eyes, maybe stick to 14mm or 14.2mm.

COMFORT: ★★★★★
No problems here! My eyes are quite sensitive now, but I don't feel any discomfort with these. I don't feel them moving around like I do with some lenses. That said, I do get dry eyes faster than most people, so I always have eye drops on hand. I didn't have any problems with these, but YMMV!

OVERALL: ★★★★★
I absolutely LOVE these lenses. They're my new favorite! (Sorry, GEO Super Nudy.) I'm actually already considering getting these in pink, brown, and grey in the future. If you're looking for something eye-catching but not over-the-top, you might want to consider these ♥
