Heroine Make now in Manila!

August 31, 2014

Heroine Make is finally in Manila!! I've been waiting for this brand to reach local shores for a long time now- I'm so happy it's finally here! The famous cosmetics brand from Japan has now made its way to the Philippines with its affordable yet amazing eye makeup, BB creams, and powders to name a few. I dropped by the Beauty Section at SM MoA's Department Store yesterday for a mini-event by Heroine Make, to see it with my own two eyes! The event featured a demo on natural makeup by Japanese makeup artist, Sayuri Igarashi. I've been watching Japanese makeup videos for as long as I can remember, but seeing it being done live is really something else. Super quick and natural makeup in under 30 minutes! After the demo, I got to play with all their products. This is already pretty obvious, but the products I'm most excited about are the eyeliners! Eyemake that stays intact even when you cry? Yes please! Check out Heroine Make at Watsons and SM Stores' Beauty Section! Be your own heroine with Heroine Make! (◡‿◡ฺ✿)

Spiral Cats Meet and Greet (aka TashaCon 2014)

August 22, 2014

Here's the thing.. I don't get what the deal is with cosplay ~celebrities~. Because I consider cosplay as a geek hobby, the idea of having celebrities within the circle is.. strange to me. But even so, there are still a handful of local and international cosplayers that I look up to. Even though I try to remind myself that these people are also just anime fans just like me, I can't help but fawn over them and put them on a pedestal because I admire them so much! So self-contradictory, I know! ;;

I realized then that there are just some cosplayers you really can't help fangirling/fanboying over. For me, one of those cosplayers is Tasha, of the Korean cosplay group Spiral Cats. If you haven't heard of SpCats or Tasha before.. under what rock have you been living in? Her Queen of Blades cosplay pretty much made the internet explode when it first came out, even my friends who aren't into cosplay know about her. I've been a fan for so long, I even turned Aian into a fan because of my constantly showing him pictures of Tasha. So when I heard that she and two other SpCats members were coming to Manila, I almost had a mini-heart attack. I had to go no matter what! On the day itself, I was so nervous. A friend of mine told me, "Tao rin lang yan! (They're also human!)," but for me, Tasha is a goddess LOL (人゚∀゚*) /slapped

TASHAAAAAAAAAAA~~!!!!! TASHA짱!! 사랑해요!! HOW CAN SOMEONE WHO LOOKS LIKE THIS BE HUMAN? When it was my turn to take pictures I immediately forgot all the basic Korean words that I know lol. Couldn't even say hello wtf.

SO PRETTY IN REAL LIFE (Way too pretty that I also forgot how to take pictures properly wtf.)

Photo (of me looking like a whale) beside Tasha ^________^ At this point my hands were already shaking hahaha ;;

ALSO GOT A SELCA WITH TASHA *CRIES INTO HANDS*

Of course Aian has a photo also! Really bad photo, sorry. It's like I threw out all my photography knowledge out the window that day wtf. I'm surprised I even managed to get a decent, non-blurry photo when I was shaking so much.

Bonus photos of DoReMi~!! Really cute!! I almost forgot to take her photo!! But then.. Ssol.. the other Spiral Cat with them.. I forgot to take hers. So stupid of me!! I'm so sorry. Too distracted by Tasha to notice other people _(´ཀ`」 ∠)_

Lastly, photo with Tasha holding the art Aian made for her~~ You can see he's trying hard not to smile LOL (〃艸〃)
You can see the artwork on Aian's blog here!

Can you tell from the photos that I was super happy that day?? Aian was super glad she liked the artwork, too! We were ecstatic after the meet and greet that we forgot about the actual con (OzineFest), so we dubbed it as TashaCon lol! Tasha is up there on my top 10 cosplayers list, so I was so happy I almost cried afterwards. Not only was she so so so pretty, she was also super kind! Goddess-level..!! Whenever anyone said hi to her, she would say hi back~ She even added me on Facebook the next day *SCREAMS INTERNALLY* It's been two weeks since we met her and I'm still not over it. I even have our selca as my Twitter icon! ヽ(*・ω・)ノ Now all that's left is for me to meet Houtou Singi, my other cosplay ~goddess~ ehehehe (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

Kawaii in Manila 2: The First Philippine かわいい Convention

August 19, 2014

In the words of the Kawaii Philippines team, Kawaii isn't just an expression nor a trend, it is a lifestyle – an appreciation for all things cute and also a way of looking at the world in a positive light. This is something that I believe in quite strongly as well. I've said it so many times before - kawaii is a state of mind. With the goal of spreading the kawaii way of life in the Philippines, the Kawaii PH team brings us the most-awaited kawaii event of the year, Kawaii in Manila 2 - the first ever Kawaii convention in the country!

The meaning of Kawaii has gone beyond its original sense. It is no longer just a word that means "cute," "pretty" or "adorable" in Japanese. Kawaii is now considered a global phenomenon because of its great influence in art, fashion, beauty and even food. It is not just an appreciation for all things cute and fun but also a way of looking at the world in a happy and positive light. Kawaii is a culture enjoyed by many people from all over the world, including the Philippines.

Here's a bit of trivia: I've been in the anime / manga / cosplay scene since 2007 -- so old! During those times, it was quite a rare sight to see people dressing up in J-fashion. There would be one or two people in decora, a handful of people in lolita, and everyone else would be in cosplay. Fast forward to now - because more and more people have become familiar with kawaii fashion, I've seen it a lot more during events. Still though, I always wished we could have something similar to HARAJUKU KAWAii!! - a convention centered on the kawaii fashion and culture. We've never had anything like it, as we've only ever had cosplay events. That is, until now. The Philippines having its very own kawaii convention was something I could only imagine before, I never thought it would happen so soon! What's more, I'll be taking part in it as well! I'm so happy and excited, especially since the Kawaii PH team shares the same goal as I do - to spread the kawaii culture to everyone in the Philippines and around the world. Because I knew that we all had the same goal, I didn't hesitate to reach out to Kaila to offer my skills and my support. I'm very excited to see how far the kawaii influence will reach! And if you're not quite convinced yet, here are just one of the activities at Kawaii in Manila 2:
